Your sustainable 4-star hotel

Slow tourism is the future - and it must begin today

We live in a natural paradise. Priceless treasures unite to form the Bernese Oberland: lush meadows, healthy forests, turquoise-blue lakes, and majestic peaks provide relaxation, joy, and strength. To ensure this remains the case for generations to come, we are working to bring our commitment to sustainability to a high level. Throughout our hotel, we take small but meaningful steps to fulfil our ecological responsibility.

Investments in building technology

In recent years, we have invested heavily in the control and modernisation of our building systems. Cooling, ventilation, and heating installations are state-of-the-art, saving valuable energy.

Our hotel has also been connected to the local district heating plant since 2011, which produces heat from regional wood chips.

We deliberately refrain from installing air conditioning in our hotel, as our location at 1,100 metres above sea level ensures cool night air for a pleasant sleeping climate.

Regional products

We maintain close personal contact with local farms, producers, and suppliers such as Eiger Milch and HR Gastro. Wherever possible, our alpine culinary programme is designed using regional products.

With Grindelwald’s alpine spring water from the Chlecki source and a butter-portioning machine at the buffet, we avoid excessive consumption of resources and unnecessary waste.

Public transport

Grindelwald is well connected to the international rail network. We offer a pick-up and drop-off service from and to the railway station for arriving and departing guests.

In winter, the ski bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and in summer the village bus stop is just a few minutes’ walk away. Enjoy the opportunity to leave your car in our car park while you set out on your adventures by other means of transport.
